Inubriated Domain Name Shopping

CouchSquash.com… Sometimes even I cringe when I say it, think it, or hear it. Why did I pick such an ugly domain name? WHY, why, why why?
I was thinking about two domain names I know well, newegg.com and tigerdirect.com, and how their domain names have nothing to do with their products. Something deep inside me led me to believe that it was a good idea to develop a brand instead of just registering a keyword rich domain name. Even with the aforementioned being said, why couchsquash.com?
Well, I figured that couch cucumber would be a good name and it definitely rolls off the tongue. When I went to register it, it was available, yet I couldn’t make the plunge! It just seemed to be lacking certain meaning. I thought long and hard in my drunken stupor (yes I had a few) and finally decided to get creative. Squash! A squash is similar to a cucumber yet it is also a verb! I figured that squash could imply action, as in squash your couch, get off your ass and do something! I was pretty stoked about my creative idea and bought the domain name and headed off to bed.
Oh the headaches that come the day after tipsiness! I woke from my slumber to a headache and a surprise. My fiance was inquiring about my evening and I told her about the great new domain name I registered, couchcucumber.com! lol, when I went to show her the confirmation that I owned it, I was shocked to see I actually own couchsquash.com! Memories of my rationale the prior evening came flooding back and I was stuck. Stuck with the domain, and stuck explaining this entire ludicrous story to my wonderful fiance. You will see many pictures of her here on this site, as I’m somewhat limited in people willing to pose for my projects.
So if anyone asks “why couch squash?” you now have the answer.
